This will be the 3rd installment of the new music series “Tokyo Song Celebration” at Fuglen in Asakusa. Bennett-Kuroda hosts each month, and invite a different guest performer each time around.
This month’s special guest is Matt Gillan, and he’ll be doing Okinawan songs. Yup, that’s right! In addition to having the classic New Orleans piano stylings (a la Professor Loghair, Dr John, etc) down pretty cold, the man also TEARS IT UP on the Okinawan sanshin. Sings the songs, too. A rare chance to see and hear this side of the amazing Mr Gillan’s musical personality and expertise. AND… joining Bennett-Kuroda for two full sets will be killer bass player Jeff Curry! |
